When Falcon Heavy lifts off later this year, it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. Thrust at liftoff is equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft operating simultaneously.

The SpaceX Grasshopper completed its highest flight to date, rising to 744 meters altitude (almost 3/4 of a kilometer). In this unmanned view, the single camera hexacopter was able to get closer than it ever has before.
The goal of SpaceX is to create rocket boosters that will return to the launch pad for a vertical landing after use. The Grasshopper rocket is a Vertical Takeoff Vertical Landing (VTVL) test vehicle, designed to demonstrate the required technologies needed for safely returning a booster stage back to Earth for reuse.
